OPEN CALL: ADD soundsystem IS OPEN!
ADD soundsystem will be hosted at SUBVISION art festival in Hamburg from August 26 - September 6 2009, presented by D.I.V.O. Institute.
ADD soundsystem is an open sonic playground, low-cost DIY multichannel installation and an experimental sound studio for intense audio experience. Anyone may join in and reserve time to play with the installation. Its use is open to musicians, DJs, sound artists, or anyone interested to put their ideas into test. Come to test the installation yourself, it may take on a form of a DJ set, jam session, free improvisation or sound installation.
The ADD soundsystem is a decentralized mixing device with five separate stereo inputs. On all end output speakers it is possible to create a mix out of the incoming signals. Thus sound can be distributed around the installation space. Central control is not to be exercised here; it should be the audience members that manipulate sound distribution for the speakers in their proximity and create the aural environment for themselves and others. The environment is to be experienced in motion, there is no privileged spot for ideal listening experience; any listening point is valid. The mix does not happen inside one box, sound is rather mixed directly in the space.
